The park generates the highest revenue to Uganda Wildlife Authority amongst all the national parks in the country.
The park is a tropical rainforest which experiences tropical type of climate which is characterised by heavy rainfall mainly in the months of March to April and September to November.
The annual temperature ranges from a minimum of 7-15°C and a maximum of 20-27°C .
The park covers an area of 331sq km in the highest parts of the Kigezi highlands at an altitude of 1190 to 2607m
The park comprises of other wild animals such as mammals like elephants, buffaloes, yellow black duikers , blue monkeys , res tailed monkeys, black and white colobus ,L’Hoest’s monkeys among others , birds like kivu ground thrush , regal sun bird , Rwenzori turaco, black bee eater , black billed turaco .
It takes approximately 9 to 10 hours to reach Bwindi from Entebbe or Kampala by road and the journey covers about 487km
Tourists using flight will travel from Entebbe international airport or kajjansi air field and will take about 1 hour and half to reach kisoro air strip or kihihi airstrip and then use a car to get to the park .

Bwindi impenetrable National Park is a UNESCo world heritage site. It was in 1994 when Bwindi was declared an animal sanctuary to protect the endangered mountain gorillas .
Bwindi is also known for its great diversity. Bwindi impenetrable National Park comprises of about 120 mammal species, 360 species of birds like white tailed blue flycatcher, black bee eater , African green broadbill , Brown necked parrot etc , 11 primate species like chimpanzees, mountain gorillas, black and white colobus , L’Hoest’s monkey etc , about 200 butterfly species and reptiles and amphibians.
Bwindi is a great tourism destination worldwide . The park comprises of Mountain gorillas which are the main tourist attractions in the park. Bwindi receives the highest number of tourists in Uganda who come to carry out gorilla trekking in the four sectors of the pro which are Buhoma, Ruhija , Rushaga and Nkuringo . The gorilla families include ; Oruzogo , Bitukura , Rushengura , Habinyanja , Bweza , Nshongi , Nkuringo etc.

Bwindi has the highest number of mountain gorillas in Africa about 500 gorilla individuals living in the park in its four sectors. The gorilla families are over 20 which include Bweza , Christmas, Nkuringo, Mubare , Habinyanja etc .
The park is divided into four sectors ie Buhoma , Rushaga , Ruhija , and Nkuringo. All these sectors are open for gorilla trekking and as well tourists can visit the communities around.
Bwindi impenetrable National Park is a tropical rain forest that experiences tropical type of climate. Therefore the park receives heavy rainfall between 1400mm to 1900mm per annum .
