Bwindi impenetrable National Park is part of the Virunga Conservation area and it was opened for gorilla trekking in 1994 with the Mubare gorilla family being the first family to be opened for trekking .
Bwindi is a dense tropical rainforest habiting diverse wildlife species like 350 bird species , 120 mammal species , 200 butterfly species , over 1000 flowering plants , about 11 species of primates and many more.
Bwindi receives rainfall amounts about 1500mm per annum and temperature ranges from 22°C – 25°C during day snd 10°C to 14°C during the night
The park is on a high altitude at about 12000 – 2700m above sea level .
Mountain gorillas are the major tourist attraction in the park thus making the park a major destination worldwide.

Gorilla trekking is the major activity in Bwindi because the park ‘s major tourist attraction are mountain gorillas .
The park has about 20 gorilla families that are open for trekking and in a day about 152 gorilla permits are sold being that 8 permits are sold everyday per gorilla family .
Tourists are allowed to spend 1 hour with the gorillas in the wilderness .
This activity starts in the morning with a briefing at the park headquarters where tourists are taken through rules and regulations for a wonderful experience.
Tourists are then guided by well trained park rangers to search for gorillas and after trekking tourists are given certificates for successful trekking experiences.
