Detailed 10-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

10-Day Uganda Safari: Big Five, Gorilla Trekking & Adventure

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and Transfer to Hotel

A driver-guide from our safari company will welcome you at the airport and provide a briefing.

You’ll visit a forex bureau to obtain Ugandan currency for transactions, then transfer to your hotel for the first night of this 10-day Uganda safari.

Day 2: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Head out on the Kampala-Gulu Highway toward Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest conservation area.

Stop at roadside markets to purchase fresh fruits like bananas, apples, and pineapples.

Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where you can see rhinos, followed by lunch.

Afterward, proceed to the park, where you’ll have the chance to see the mighty Murchison Falls.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive, Launch Cruise, and Top of the Falls Hike

Enjoy an early morning game drive across the savannah plains to see animals like lions, buffaloes, and warthogs.

The two-hour drive includes a stop at the hippo pool for a bush breakfast.

After lunch at the lodge, take a launch cruise on the Nile, spotting hippos and crocodiles.

Disembark at the base of Murchison Falls and hike to the top, where you’ll experience the powerful falls and see a rainbow formed as water squeezes through the narrow gorge.

Overnight at a lodge on the southern side of the park.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park and Visit Isunga Cultural Community

After breakfast, check out and drive to Kibale Forest National Park, home to 13 primate species.

The five-hour journey brings you to Isunga community, where you can interact with locals, learn basket and mat weaving, and take a community tour through forests, tea plantations, and crater lakes.

Transfer to the lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After a briefing at Kanyanchu Information Center, begin a guided trek to find chimpanzees in their natural habitat.

Along the way, you’ll encounter primates like olive baboons, vervet monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys.

Following lunch, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where herds of elephants, Uganda kobs, and bushbucks greet you on arrival. Check in to your lodge.

Day 6: Full-Day Exploration in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Spend the day exploring Queen Elizabeth National Park with game drives in Mweya Peninsula and Kasenyi plains, followed by a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George.

Expect sightings of birds like the African finfoot and animals such as elephants, buffalo, Uganda kobs, hippos, Nile crocodiles, and even leopards.

Day 7: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha Sector

Depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you may see tree-climbing lions.

Enjoy the scenic drive through rolling hills before checking into your lodge. Bwindi is home to nearly half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After a briefing at the park headquarters, embark on a gorilla trek in Bwindi’s dense forest. Spend an hour observing a gorilla family up close.

Following lunch, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, where you can relax by the lake and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Day 9: Boat Cruise on Lake Bunyonyi & Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

In the morning, take a boat cruise on Africa’s second-deepest lake, exploring its islands. If interested, try zip-lining over the lake.

Afterward, continue to Lake Mburo National Park, stopping in Mbarara for lunch. Upon arrival, embark on an evening game drive, where you can spot animals like impalas, zebras, and warthogs.

Day 10: Guided Bush Walk and Return to Kampala

After breakfast, enjoy a guided bush walk with a park ranger, spotting wildlife and bird species up close.

Check out and transfer back to Kampala, stopping at the Uganda Equator for photos and experiments.

Continue to Entebbe for your departure flight, marking the end of your safari.
