Detailed 3-Day Rwanda Primates Tour Itinerary

3 Days Gorillas & Golden Monkeys

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by our company representative, who will introduce you to Rwanda and brief you on your 3 Days Rwanda Gorilla & Golden Monkey Tour.

We will embark on a brief city tour around Kigali, followed by lunch at the famous Hotel Mille Collines (Hotel Rwanda). Afterward, we will transfer to Volcanoes National Park, where we will arrive in the evening.

Since we will be engaging in a challenging activity the following day—gorilla tracking, which can last up to 8 hours depending on the gorillas’ movements—we will spend the evening relaxing, hydrating, and getting enough rest.

We recommend an early night’s sleep, as you will need to wake up by 6:00 AM to prepare, have breakfast, and transfer to the park headquarters, where we should arrive by 7:00 AM for the 7:30 AM briefing.

Dinner and overnight at your accommodation.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Tracking & Ibyi’wacu Cultural Visit

This is the day you get to visit Rwanda’s mountain gorillas in the mist. We will start with an early breakfast before heading to the park’s headquarters in Kinigi for a short briefing session at 7:30 AM, which will last for about 30 minutes.

During this briefing, we will be assigned specific gorilla groups to track, learn about the dos and don’ts of gorilla tracking, and have the opportunity to ask any questions.

You will need to pack enough drinks and a packed lunch, as there are no shops in the jungle.

We will then embark on our adventure to track the mountain gorillas, which can take anywhere from 2 to 8 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements.

The trek is physically demanding and offers the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself, so being in good physical condition is highly recommended.

Upon locating the mountain gorillas, we will spend a full hour observing and interacting with them before returning to the park headquarters to receive your gorilla tracking certificates.

Afterward, we will have lunch, relax, and then embark on a cultural visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village.

Here, you will have the chance to immerse yourself in Rwanda’s culture by watching traditional drumming, music, and dancing.

You may even join in the dance for a more interactive experience. We will then return to our accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Kigali, Visit the Genocide Memorial Monument, and Departure

After an early breakfast in Volcanoes, we will begin our return journey to Kigali. The day will feature a city tour with visits to cultural markets, the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Monument, Caplaki Crafts Village, and other notable sites.

We will have lunch at Hotel Mille Collines (Hotel Rwanda), the setting of the famous Hollywood film, followed by last-minute shopping around Kigali.

Finally, we will transfer you to Kigali International Airport in time to catch your departure flight, marking the end of your Rwanda travel holiday.

End of 3 Days Rwanda Gorilla Tracking & Golden Monkey Tracking Tour.
