Day 1: Arrival & Overnight in Kigali
Upon your arrival, our company representative will meet you at Kigali International airport and transfer you to your accommodation place where you will drop your stuff, have dinner then an overnight after. If your arrival time is early then we shall carry out a Kigali City excursion for the whole day and drop you off at your place of stay after so that you have enough time to prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking activity.
Day 2: Transfer to Ruhengeri
On day 2, we shall have a mid-morning breakfast and visit the Kimironko market (one of the largest of the local markets in the African continent) before heading to the historical Hotel Des Mille Collines (where the Hotel Rwanda movie was shot from) for lunch and after transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Ruhengeri where we shall arrive in the evening.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking & Twin Lakes Visit
We shall have a very heavy breakfast meal on day three and pack our lunch before heading out for a short briefing meeting at 7 am at the park headquarters in Kinigi. During this meeting, you will be briefed on the rules and regulations of mountain gorilla tracking, the precautions to take plus a lot other vital information that you ought to know. This is also your perfect chance to ask any questions you might want to know or inquire about about anything hence, don’t hold your words. From this meeting we shall be grouped and taken to the jungles in search for mountain gorillas which should take us up to 6 hours depending on the movements of the primates. We shall have a full hour of an encounter with these primates but we ought to be at least 6 meters away from them. Day 4: Second Gorilla Trekking & Ibyi’wacu Cultural Visit
On day four we shall head out to track a different gorilla family for our second gorilla trekking activity. After breakfast we shall head to the same briefing point as the previous day for another short meeting regarding the dos and donts of Gorilla tracking and then make our way to the jungles in search for a different mountain gorilla family. Once we find the mountain gorillas, we shall enjoy another full hour of an encounter with that specific family, interact with them and take more distinct photographs. In the afternoon, we shall head for at visit at the Ibyi’wacu cultural center for a cultural trail then return to our place of stay for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Kigali City Tour and Departure
After an early morning breakfast, we shall embark on a Kigali City tour where we shall visit a number of places that will bring Rwanda’s bitter past into reality. Among these places are the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Monument, a place where thousands of Rwandeese remains lie to memorize the dark era of the countries genocide that saw several lives lost. We shall also visit cultural centers, local communities, charity homes plus more places depending on how much time you have before your departure.
