The month of June is the beginning of the dry season in Bwindi impenetrable National Park therefore the park receives less rainfall and the skies are usually very clear .

During the month of June the temperatures range from 21°C to 27°C during the day and then cooler during the mornings with temperatures dropping up to 16°C .

The trails in Bwindi during the month of June are drier and less slippery which makes it easier to trek gorillas .

Also , food is readily available in the month of June and this makes it easier to spot gorillas in the jungle

About Bwindi

Bwindi impenetrable National park lies in south western Uganda in 3 districts of Kabale , kisoro and Kanungu .

The park is a home of the critically endangered mountain gorillas about 459 individuals which are almost half of those in the wild .

Bwindi impenetrable forest is a tropical rainforest which experiences tropical climate characterised by heavy rainfall ranging from 1400mm to 1900mm per annum and temperatures ranging from 7to 15 °C minimum to 20 to 27°C maximum.

The park is managed by Uganda wildlife Authority a body in change of all National Parks in Uganda .

The park covers an area of about 331sq km at the border of Democratic Republic of Congo

The park is located at the highest parts of the life I highlands at an altitude of 1190 to 2607m above sea level .

 

How to access Bwindi

By Road

Tourists will travel from Kampala or Entebbe by car for about 9 to 10 hours to the park . The park is about 487 km away from Kampala.

Tourists coming from Kigali Rwanda will travel by car via Cyanika border and the journey takes about 4 to 5 hours .

 

By Air

Tourists travelling by air will take flights from Entebbe international airport or kajjansi air field and land at kihihi or kisoro air strips

The journey will take about 1 hour and tourists will connect to the park by car .
