Kisoro Airstrip is located in the extreme southwestern part of Uganda. It is situated 6 kilometers (4 miles) north of the Rwanda border and approximately 343 kilometers by air southwest of Entebbe International Airport.
As of 2017, it provides exclusively local flights, although plans for upgrading have been proposed.
Kisoro Airstrip is a public airstrip owned by the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda. It is one of the 12 upcountry airstrips, including:

Kisoro Airstrip is considered one of the largest civilian and military airstrips, with runways averaging a length of 1,130 meters (3,707 feet) and an asphalt surface.
The airstrip has an altitude of 6,200 feet (1,890 meters) and coordinates at 1°17’00″S, 29°43’10″E.

Role of Kisoro Airstrip
Being located in Kisoro, the airstrip serves the town of Kisoro, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and Mgahinga National Park. It acts as the main entry and exit route for small planes carrying tourists daily to:
- Mgahinga National Park
- The southern side of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
- Queen Elizabeth National Park
Kisoro Airstrip is an excellent public airstrip that facilitates easier transportation across the areas it serves, contributing significantly to tourism and connectivity.
