Bamboo trail
Bamboo trail is located in Bwindi impenetrable national park in the Ruhija sector .
The trail is about 2607m and it takes 7 hours to complete hiking through the trail .
Tourists will encounter various vegetation mainly Bamboo vegetation, montane vegetation and tropical vegetation.
As tourists hike using the bamboo trail they will have amazing views of different animal species like mammas such as elephants, duikers , olive baboons , bush bucks , chimpanzees, giant forest hogs , red tailed monkeys and blue monkeys , bird species such as African harrier hawk , brown snake eagle , marabou stark , Willy necked stork , olive pigeon , Regal sun bird , great blue turaco and augur buzzard.
Hiking through the bamboo trail requires the guidance of a well armed park ranger with the knowledge about the park and as well maximum physical fitness to have a great experience.
About Bwindi
Bwindi impenetrable National Park is shone of the endangered mountain gorillas located in south western Uganda in the districts of kabale , kisoro and kanungu .
The park is well known for its biodiversity such as the various wildlife species like mammals eg chimpanzee , black and white colobus , duikers and bird species such as the Ruwenzori baits , brown snake eagle , olive pigeon , great blue turaco , Ruwenzori turaco , black billed turaco , black bee eater , Cassins hawk among others .
The park was originally a home of the batwa people but they were displaced after the forest was established into a national park.
The forest was declared into a national park in 1991 and a UNESCo world heritage site in 1994
Bwindi experiences tropical climate characterized by heavy rainfall and hot temperatures.
Rainfall ranges from 1400m to 1900m and temperature ranges from 7 to 15 degrees Celsius and 20 to 27 degrees Celsius.
The name Bwindi was got from a local word Mubwindi which means a place full of darkness .
Uganda wild life Authority is the body in charge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
