Bwindi Gorilla Tours from Nairobi – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in southwestern Uganda in the districts of Kabale, Kisoro, and Kanungu.
Bwindi gorilla tours from Nairobi bring tourists to Bwindi, where they can trek mountain gorillas in any of the four sectors: Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, or Nkuringo.
Tourists are required to book a gorilla trekking permit through a trusted tour operator or the Uganda Wildlife Authority to secure their spot. Permits are limited, especially during the high season.
Tourists from Nairobi can reach Bwindi either by road or by air.
By Air:
- Direct Flight from Nairobi to Entebbe: Tourists will take a flight from Nairobi to Entebbe International Airport, which takes about 1 hour.
- Flight from Masai Mara to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: Tourists will take a flight from Masai Mara National Reserve to Kisoro Airstrip or Kihihi Airstrip through Entebbe International Airport, which takes about 3-4 hours in total.
- Direct Flight from Entebbe to Kisoro or Kihihi Airstrips: Tourists will fly from Entebbe to Kisoro or Kihihi airstrips using a domestic airline. The flight takes about 1.5 hours, followed by a short drive to the park.
By Road:
Tourists who prefer to travel by road will enter Uganda via the Busia or Malaba border and then continue to Kisoro or Kabale, where they can access the park.
Tourists start with a briefing early in the morning at the park headquarters.
They are divided into groups of 8 people, with each group assigned one gorilla family to trek under the guidance of a well-trained park ranger.
Gorilla trekking takes about 2 to 7 hours as tourists search for the gorillas in the jungle. Once the gorillas are located, tourists will spend only one hour in their presence.
The best time to visit Bwindi for gorilla trekking is during the dry season in the months of June to August and December to February. During this time, the trails are dry, making it easier to pass through the forest.
