The Muyanga Waterfall Trail is located in the Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The trail is a popular destination for tourists who come for gorilla trekking in the park.
The Muyanga Waterfall Trail is about 4 km long and takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete the hike. Tourists will have the chance to see the beautiful scenery of Bwindi Forest, encounter various wildlife species such as primates and birds, and enjoy amazing views of Muyanga Waterfall.
Some of the primates you may see are L’Hoest’s monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and chimpanzees. Other mammals include duikers, elephants, buffaloes, bushbucks, and more.
Bird species include the Rwenzori turaco, regal sunbird, mountain masked apalis, crowned hornbill, great blue turaco, greenbuls, and others.

About Buhoma Sector of Bwindi
The Buhoma sector is found in the northern region of Bwindi. Buhoma was the first sector to be opened for gorilla trekking.
Currently, Buhoma is the most visited sector of Bwindi. It is home to the oldest gorilla family, Mubare, and others like Habinyanja, Rushengura, and Katwe.

How to Access the Trail
By Road: Tourists can travel from Kampala or Entebbe by car to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. The journey takes about 9 to 10 hours and covers 540 km.
By Air: Tourists can travel by plane from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airfield to Kisoro Airstrip. From there, they can head to Bwindi by road.
