November is the wet season in Bwindi with temperatures around 23°C during day time and 11°C during night time .

November has an average of 12 days of rainfall and it is the last month of the rainy season in Bwindi.

Since temperatures are very cool in November, it becomes abit challenging to locate mountain gorillas as they hide in the dense vegetation of the park.

The forest trials are muddy and slippery and challenging to hike to explore the park.

Usually the park receives more migratory birds which makes it a popular time for bird watching in Bwindi.

Since November is a low season most of the lodges offer special discounts to travellers planning their safari to Bwindi.

 

 

How gorilla trekking is done in the month of November

Gorilla trekking starts very early in the morning at 7am at the park headquarters with a briefing about rules and regulations.

Tourists are then divided into groups of 8 people and led by a well trained park ranger to trek gorillas .

Trekking takes about 2 to 7 hours but once gorillas are located then tourists will be allowed to spend only one hour with them

As trekking is going on tourists can also spot other species like insects , plants , mammals , birds among others .

A gorilla permit costs USD 800 for foreign non residents

USD 700 for foreign residents per person per trek

UGX 300,000 for citizens of East Africa

How to Access Bwindi

By Road

Tourists will travel by car for about 9 to 10 hours to reach Bwindi. The journey usually involves exploring more of the country before reaching the park .

Tourists from Kigali will access the park via Cyanika border which takes about 4 to 5 hours .

 

By air

Tourists will take a flight from Entebbe international airport or kajjansi air field to kisoro or kihihi air strips . The journey usually takes 1 and a half hours
