Mountain Gorillas possess 98.3% genetic component with humans , live in forests up the mountains and feed on stems, leaves of trees . Fruits and insects .

 

They are gentle Giants with mighty hands legs and shoulders with tiny eyes and fearless faces.

 

Mountain Gorillas are ground animals that construct their nests on the ground and spend most of their time feeding on the ground . They construct nests using vegetation every evening.

 

They are easily identifiable with much black fur that is thicker than those of other gorillas.

 

World wide , the total mountain Gorilla population clocks to about 1063 individuals and are found in only three countries that is the Democratic republic of congo , Rwanda and Uganda .

 

In borders of Rwanda and Democratic republic of congo , the mountain Gorillas occupy the Virunga Volcanoes whereas in Uganda , the mountain Gorillas occupy Bwindi Impenetrable National Park that provides home to half the world’s mountain Gorilla population .

 

Mountain Gorillas stay in an area range of 15 square miles that is 39 square kilometers and spend most of their time eating vegetation and insects .

 

Over the years ,the mountain Gorilla population was greatly depleted however due to devastating human activities great thanks to both national and international conservation efforts there has been a 73% increment in mountain Gorilla population.

 

The presence of mountain Gorillas have attracted tourists from all over the world in a famous and interesting mountain Gorilla searching activity called gorilla trekking which is commonly done in two out of three countries that is Uganda and Rwanda since the democratic republic of congo has ragged terrains.  Dense forests and is political unstable making tourism activities rather risky.
