What to Consider When Planning a Flight

  • Gorilla Permit: Tourists should ensure they have secured their gorilla permits through either the Uganda Wildlife Authority or a tour operator. Booking a gorilla permit in advance helps to organize the entire safari and ensures availability, as these permits sell out quickly. A gorilla permit costs about USD 800 per person per trek.
  • Accommodation: Tourists should book accommodation close to their gorilla trekking destination to allow for an easy transfer from Kisoro or Kihihi Airstrips.
  • Transport: Arrangements for transport from the airstrip to the lodge should be organized in advance. A van is usually needed to transfer guests to their lodges and to the park.
  • Flight Ticket: Booking flights early with a domestic airline secures a spot on the plane. Early booking can sometimes come with discounts, maximizing savings.

Domestic flights to Kisoro and Kihihi Airstrips are convenient and time-saving for tourists visiting Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
