Lake Mulehe is located in southwestern Uganda, specifically in Kisoro District. The lake was formed as a result of volcanic activity and covers an area of 2 square kilometers with a width of 14 kilometers.
Lake Mulehe is home to a small population of wildlife species, including birds such as kites, kingfishers, hadada ibis, and grey-crowned cranes. Mammals found at the lake include the African clawless otter, side-necked turtle, bushbucks, duikers, and African civet.
The lake also hosts fish species like Nile tilapia, African catfish, lungfish, and mudfish, as well as reptiles and amphibians such as the African rock python, green mamba, and frogs.
Lake Mulehe is surrounded by diverse ethnic groups, including the Bakiga, Bafumbira, and Batwa people.

How to Access Lake Mulehe
- By Road: Tourists can travel from Kampala to Kisoro District by car. The journey takes about 9 to 10 hours, covering a distance of approximately 454 kilometers. The road trip offers tourists the chance to explore other beautiful scenery along the way.
- By Air: Tourists can fly from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airfield to Kisoro Airstrip and then continue to Lake Mulehe by road.
