Kisoro Town is located in the southwestern region of Uganda, in Kisoro District, within the Kigezi sub-region. Kisoro is 76 km west of Kabale and approximately 484 km from Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, by road. The geographical coordinates of Kisoro are 1°17’06.0″S, 29°41’06.0″E.

  • By Air: Tourists traveling by air can take a flight from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airfield to Kisoro Airstrip. The flight takes about 1 hour, and the remaining distance to Kisoro Town is completed by road.

Mountain gorillas are found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park. Bwindi has over 20 gorilla families, while Mgahinga has one gorilla family. Both parks are open for gorilla trekking.

Tourists must secure gorilla permits to access the parks and trek the gorillas. The best time to visit is during the dry season, from June to September and December to January.

Golden monkeys are found in Mgahinga National Park. Tourists need permits to trek these monkeys.
