Gorilla trekking is a wildlife activity which involves hiking in the thick tropical rainforests of Africa to spot mountain gorillas .

Gorilla trekking is the most common activity for tourists that are visiting Uganda , Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo.

This activity may be carried to conduct research or finding out the gorilla population or locating gorilla families before trekking .

Gorilla trackers communicate to the tour guides or park rangers to direct them to where the gorillas are located .

Gorilla tracking takes place very early in the morning shortly before trekking starts .

The best time for these activities is the dry season in the months of June to September and December to February . However , the activities can as well be carried throughout the year.
