Characteristics of mountain Gorillas .

Mountain Gorillas are friendly giants with 98.3% DNA similarity with humans . They occupy three countries world wide and that is Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda covering the Virunga ranges in Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo while in Uganda , they are found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga forest .

 

They are generally stocky animals with broad chests and tiny eyes fixed in their fearless faces. They also have large hands

Mountain gorillas are magnificent creatures that live in groups called families led by a dominant silverback who protects the family , mates with females and decided feeding and sleeping times.

Mountain Gorillas live in tropical forest with Bamboo trees as it’s one of their favourite diet

Alternatively , mountain Gorillas have larger muscles in their arms than the legs because they use their arms for gathering and felling trees giving the hand more work and need for their larger muscles although walk on four limbs

 

In addition to that, The arms of a mountain Gorillas are longer than the legs . A mountain Gorilla actually has about 30 cm arm span longer than that of humans

 

Mountain Gorillas live in groups or families also called troops led by a dominant silverback who is the strongest in the group

 

Further more, their stomachs are larger than their chests. This is because of their intestines containing  bulky vegetables they consume in a day

 

The upper body of a mountain Gorilla is six times more powerful than that of humans

 

Mountain Gorillas are generally herbivores feeding on vegetation,  fruits and sometimes include insects in their diet .

 

Significantly,  the life span of a mountain Gorilla on average is 35-50 years of age

 

By and large ,  mountain Gorillas are great apes with easily identifiable uniqueness
