Visiting Bwindi on Easter – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is famous for its biodiversity, though mountain gorillas are the most popular.
During the Easter holidays, tourists can explore the thick forest and see wild animals, which gives them amazing experiences.
The Easter holiday comes with special packages for tourists. However, they must book in advance for gorilla permits and accommodation because it is a high season.
An Easter holiday to Bwindi can fit well into four days. Tourists can travel on Good Friday, trek on Saturday and Sunday, and then travel back on Monday.
Gorilla Trekking Experience on Easter
Gorilla trekking starts very early in the morning at 7 am with a briefing at the park headquarters.
Tourists will then be divided into groups of 8 people. Each group is allowed to trek one gorilla family and is led by a well-trained park ranger into the jungle.
Gorilla trekking takes about 2 to 7 hours while searching for gorillas. Once gorillas are found, tourists will spend only one hour with them.
Tourists will also encounter other wildlife species like birds, chimpanzees, blue monkeys, black and white colobus, red-tailed monkeys, elephants, etc.

How to Reach Bwindi
- By Road: Tourists can travel by car from Kampala to Kabale or Kisoro in southwestern Uganda, where they can access Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey takes about 9 to 10 hours. Those coming from Kigali will travel by car via the Cyanika border. The journey takes about 4 to 5 hours.
- By Air: Tourists can take a flight from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airstrip and land at Kisoro Airstrip. From there, they will use a car to get to the park. By and large, Easter is an amazing time for tourists to experience the true beauty of nature.
