Posho Gorilla Group – Posho gorilla group is located in the Nkuringo sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda, spanning the districts of Kabale, Kisoro, and Kanungu.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to the endangered mountain gorillas, which were on the verge of extinction due to poaching, habitat loss, and diseases. The park was established in 1991 to protect these great primates.
Nkuringo sector is one of the most difficult sectors to trek due to its hilly terrain, which requires a certain level of fitness for trekking.
The Nkuringo sector is situated in the southern part of the park and was opened for trekking in 2004.
Posho gorilla group was named after the dominant silverback, Posh, who broke away from the Nkuringo group, which was led by the silverback Rafiki.
The group derived its name from its founder, Posh. Posho gorilla group currently consists of 14 members under the leadership of the dominant silverback Magaraa.
Posho gorilla group is currently undergoing habituation and will soon be available for the gorilla habituation experience.
Trekking Posho Gorilla Group
Trekking Posho gorilla group starts in the morning with a briefing at the Nkuringo park headquarters. Tourists are informed about the trekking rules and regulations and then grouped into teams of 8 people.
They are led into the wilderness by a well-trained park ranger to trek the Posho gorilla group.
Once the group is located, tourists are allowed to spend only one hour observing the gorillas.

Best Time to Visit Posho Gorilla Group
The best time to visit Posho gorilla group is during the dry season, although it can be visited throughout the year. The dry months are June to September and December to February.
