The Muyambi gorilla group is located in the Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southern Uganda.
Buhoma sector is the oldest and most famous sector for trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It is situated in the northern region of the park and is well-known for the Mubare family, the first gorilla group opened for trekking in 1993.
The Buhoma sector has several trailheads that lead tourists on gorilla treks, including Munyaga River trails in Buhoma Valley, Rushura Hill Trail, Muzabajiro Loop Trail, and River Ivi Trail.
The Muyambi gorilla group was formed in 2019 when the dominant silverback, Muyambi, broke away from the Mubare gorilla group. Trekking the Muyambi group became available the same year the group was formed.
The group is named after the silverback Muyambi, the leader of the group. In 2020, the group welcomed an infant, bringing the total number of members in the group to seven.

How to Access Muyambi Gorilla Group
The Muyambi gorilla group is located in the Buhoma sector of Bwindi and can be accessed by both road and air.
- By Road: Tourists will drive for 9 to 10 hours from Kampala or Entebbe, heading to Kabale or Kisoro town, where they will connect to Buhoma to interact with the Muyambi group.
- By Air: Tourists can take flights from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airfield to Kihihi Airstrip, and then connect to the Buhoma sector.
