How to Get There

Tourists can travel by car from Kampala or Entebbe to Kisoro, a journey of about 8 to 10 hours, and then connect to Four Gorillas Lodge.

Tourists from Rwanda can reach the lodge via the Cyanika border, traveling to Kisoro before accessing Four Gorillas Lodge.

Air transport is also available, with flights from Entebbe or Kajjansi Airfield to Kisoro Airstrip, where a car transfer to the lodge can be arranged.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit is during the dry months when forest trails are more accessible. The dry months are from June to August and December to February.

  • Birding: Birding is a popular activity in Bwindi Forest, home to over 350 bird species. Guests can observe birds from the balcony or while exploring the forest. Species include the Black-Billed Turaco, Black Bee-Eater, Regal Sunbird, and others.
  • Hiking: Tourists can enjoy hiking along forest trails and steep slopes, encountering mountain gorillas and other primates like chimpanzees and golden monkeys.
  • Gorilla Trekking: Gorilla trekking is an exciting experience in Bwindi, with tourists able to visit different sectors, including Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo, to see these apes. The cost of a gorilla permit is USD 800, and tourists are allowed one hour with the gorillas.
  • Visit to Lake Bunyonyi: Tourists can also visit Lake Bunyonyi, where they can participate in various activities, including boat rides, canoeing, and swimming.
