Day 1: Transfer to Lake Kivu
Right after having your early morning breakfast meal, Our guide will arrive to pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Gisenyi driving through Musanze (Formerly called Ruhengeri). Whilst you take on the long drive to Gisenyi, you may opt for an optional cultural trail at Iby’iwachu Village if only time and money allows. Upon your arrival in Gisenyi, you will enjoy a brief boat cruise on Lake Kivu as you explore some of its historic islands. Overnight at Lake Kivu Serena hotel for Luxury stay or Water Front Resort for mid-range stay.
Day 2: Ascend Mount Nyiragongo
Wake up to an early morning breakfast and after embark on a five to six hours adventurous climb to the beautiful yet so dangerous crater of Mount Nyiragongo. This physically challenging hike should take take you approximately 5 hours depending on a number of factors such as your level of fitness, speed and agility. It could actually take less if you give it your all. Overnight at Tented camps on the volcano.
Day 3: Descend Mount Nyiragongo
Rise to a heavy early morning breakfast and take on another adventure as we descend this volcano. Upon reaching your starting point, you will immediately transfer to Goma town for dinner and an overnight as you prepare for a mountain gorilla tracking adventure the following day. Dinner and overnight at Lake Kivu Serena hotel (Luxury Stay) or Water Front Resort for a moderate stay.
Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking
This day calls for a very early rise because you have to organize, have a heavy breakfast meal and still make it at the park offices before 7:30am for a short briefing meeting about Mountain Gorilla tracking in Virunga National Park. Right after this meeting, you will then take your respective strides into the Virunga Conservation Area as you quest for the endangered Mountain Gorillas. This activity can last for 2 to 8 hours depending on your luck inclusive of a full hour encounter with these primates. After this trek, you will head back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight. Overnight at Mikeno Lodge or Bukima tented camp.
Day 5: Transfer to Kigali, City Tour and Departure
This day we journey back to Kigali – Rwanda, carry out an exciting city tour whilst exploring the great places around Kigali and later on transfer to the Airport for a late drop off or rather an overnight at your preferred accommodation place within the city.
