Detailed 15-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport and Transfer to Hotel
Our senior guide will warmly welcome you upon arrival at Entebbe Airport and transfer you to your hotel in either Kampala or Entebbe.
Depending on your arrival time, you may take an optional city tour of Kampala.
Day 2: Depart to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
After breakfast, depart for Murchison Falls National Park, with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to trek wild rhinos.
Pass through Nakasongola and Luwero towns, stopping at a roadside market to purchase fresh fruits.
Rhino trekking will take approximately 2 hours. Enjoy lunch en route before continuing to the park lodge.
Day 3: Game Drive, Boat Cruise, and Top of the Falls Visit
Start the day with a morning game drive in the savannah-filled northern part of the park. Look out for elephants, buffalo, warthogs, giraffes, and water-bucks.
Pause at the hippo pool for rewarding views and a bush breakfast. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Nile to spot hippos, crocodiles, and birds, reaching the bottom of Murchison Falls.
Afterward, enjoy the view from the top of the falls, where you can capture the iconic rainbow formed by the powerful waters.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park and Cultural Entertainment
Depart for Kibale Forest National Park, home to 13 primate species. En route, enjoy scenic views of the Rwenzori Mountains, tea plantations, and rolling hills.
Upon arrival, enjoy lunch and be welcomed with a cultural performance from the Isunga Cultural Association, showcasing Bakiga and Batooro cultures.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Afternoon Isunga Community Walk
Head to Kanyanchu Visitors’ Center for a briefing before beginning your chimpanzee tracking adventure.
With the help of a ranger, you may spot other wildlife, such as vervet monkeys, olive baboons, and colobus monkeys.
In the afternoon, enjoy a community walk with a local guide, seeing crater lakes, Rwenzori mountain views, homesteads, and tea plantations.
Day 6: Visit Sempaya Hot Springs and Amabere Ga’Nyinamwiru Caves
Visit the Sempaya hot springs in Semuliki National Park, where you can trek through the forest to see both the male and female hot springs.
Boil some food, such as eggs, in the springs to test the heat. Later, return to Fort Portal to visit Amabere Ga’Nyinamwiru Caves and the nearby Nyakasura Falls.
An optional hike up Mweganywa Hills offers views of surrounding villages and crater lakes.
Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Afternoon Game Drive
Depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most visited destination.
Arrive in the afternoon, check in at your lodge, and embark on a game drive to see the park’s diverse wildlife.
Day 8: Game Drive and Boat Cruise
Take a morning game drive to explore Queen Elizabeth National Park’s beautiful scenery, crater lakes, and abundant wildlife, including buffalo, elephants, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, and waterbucks.
In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, where you’ll spot hippos, crocodiles, and various birds.
Day 9: Transfer to Bwindi National Park via Ishasha Sector
Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through Ishasha in Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for its tree-climbing lions. You may also see elephants, buffalo, and antelopes.
Arrive in the evening and check in at your lodge.
Day 10: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Experience
After breakfast, attend a briefing before beginning your gorilla trekking adventure. Spend 1-7 hours trekking through the forest, depending on the gorilla group’s location.
Once you find the gorillas, spend an hour observing them. In the afternoon, visit the Batwa community for an enriching cultural experience, including music, dance, and a natural fire-making demonstration.
Day 11: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Batwa Cultural Trail
Depart Bwindi for Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Uganda’s smallest park but rich in unique wildlife, including golden monkeys and mountain gorillas.
After lunch, embark on the Batwa Cultural Trail, learning about their history and traditional forest life.
Day 12: Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Lake Mutanda
Begin with a briefing before setting off on a golden monkey trek. Spend an hour with these playful primates.
Afterward, transfer to Lake Mutanda, where you’ll enjoy scenic views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
Day 13: Travel to Lake Mburo National Park
In the morning, participate in optional activities at Lake Mutanda, such as boat cruising, community walks, sport fishing, bird watching, or cycling.
After lunch, transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, stopping at Igongo Cultural Center for a short visit. Arrive at your lodge in the evening.
Day 14: Game Drive and Boat Cruise in Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive, spotting wildlife such as elands, impalas, zebras, warthogs, and hyenas.
In the afternoon, take a boat cruise to see hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species.
Day 15: Return to Kampala with Stopover at Uganda Equator
Leave Lake Mburo in the morning and head to Kampala, stopping at the Uganda Equator for photos and an optional souvenir shop.
