What is a group of gorillas called ?

A group of gorillas is called a troop . Gorillas usually live in these troops and they consist of about 5 to 30 individuals.

The group is led by a dominant silverback called a silverback who protects the family , mates with females and make group decisions.

The group has members such as females , black backs , juveniles and infants .

The black bucks when fully grown to become silverbacks fight with dominant silverbacks to take over power

In most cases the black backs may leave their original groups because the opportunity to mate with females does not exist.

The silverback in most cases fights with other groups when they meet with an intention to expand the group.
