How to Access the Lodge
- By Road: Tourists can travel from Kampala or Entebbe to Kabale and then to Rushaga, where they can connect to the lodge. The journey takes about 10 hours, and a 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended.
- By Air: Tourists who prefer air transport can book a flight from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airfield to Kisoro Airstrip, followed by a drive to Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge.
Activities
- Bird Watching: Tourists will have the chance to watch many bird species in their natural habitat as they fly and sing. Bird species include: Dusky Twinspot, White-eyed Slaty Flycatcher, Yellow-whiskered Greenbul, Brown-capped Pigeon, Giant Kingfisher, Crowned Hornbill, Blue-headed Sunbird, and Bar-tailed Trogon, among others
- Gorilla Trekking: Gorilla trekking starts in the morning with a briefing at the headquarters, and all tourists are required to have a gorilla permit. Tourists are then guided by park rangers into the wild to trek gorillas in the four sectors of the park.
- Nature Walks: Tourists can follow trails into the forest to explore and discover different wildlife species, such as trees, other primates, and stunning views of the surrounding areas.
- Gorilla Habituation: Gorilla habituation is a process where gorillas are trained to get used to humans. This experience costs about USD 1,500 per person.
