Activities

  • Gorilla Trekking: Gorilla trekking is Bwindi’s top activity. Tourists must secure a gorilla permit at a cost of around USD 800 from the Uganda Wildlife Authority. The forest is home to 20 gorilla families, all of which are open for trekking across the park’s four sectors. Gorilla trekking is typically done in the morning when gorillas are most active, making them easier to track.
  • Bird Watching: Bird watching is an adventurous activity allowing tourists to discover various bird species, creating memorable experiences. Bird species include: Dusky Twinspot, Regal Sunbird, Montane Oriole, Strange Weaver, Rwenzori Batis, and Handsome Francolin.
  • Gorilla Habituation: Since mountain gorillas are Bwindi’s main tourist attraction, the Uganda Wildlife Authority offers gorilla habituation with specific families. Gorilla habituation involves getting gorillas accustomed to human presence, lasting over 4 hours at a cost of about USD 1,500.
  • Nature Walks: Tourists can enjoy hiking on forest trails, exploring the rich flora and fauna of the forest.

How to Get There

Tourists can reach the lodge by road or air from Entebbe or Kampala. Road travelers should expect a 10-hour drive from Entebbe or Kampala to the lodge.

For those opting for air travel, flights can be booked with domestic airlines like Aerolink, departing from Entebbe or Kajjansi Airfield and landing at Kisoro Airstrip, where a car transfer will take them to the lodge.
