Signs and symptoms of yellow fever typically appear 3 to 6 days after a person is bitten by an infected mosquito. Some common signs and symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, body weakness, abdominal pain, fever, yellowing of the eyes, loss of appetite, and bleeding from body openings such as the mouth, nose, and ears.

- Wear long-sleeved shirts and trousers to cover the arms and legs to prevent mosquito bites.
- Use insect repellent to kill mosquitoes that spread yellow fever.
- Sleep under treated mosquito nets to avoid mosquito bites while sleeping.
- Close windows early to prevent mosquitoes from entering.
A yellow fever vaccination certificate is a document that proves a person is fully vaccinated against yellow fever. In Uganda, yellow fever vaccination is free for individuals aged 1 to 60 years. The vaccine should be administered before 28 weeks of pregnancy.
