Yellow fever is a viral disease spread to humans through a mosquito bite that is carrying the yellow fever virus

Signs and symptoms of yellow fever begin to appear after 3 to 6 days after the mosquito with the virus bites a person .

Some of the signs and symptoms include ; Diarrhoea , vomiting , body weakness , abdominal pain , fever , yellow eyes , appetite loss , bleeding from any body openings like mouth , nose , ears etc .

There is no specific drug for treatment of yellow fever however their is a yellow fever gaccine that can provide life long protection to individuals . The yellow fever vaccine is most safe for people of 9 months and older .

 

How to lower yellow fever risks

Wearing long sleeved shirts and trousers to cover legs and arms and prevent mosquito bites.

Using of insect repellent to kill mosquitoes that spread yellow fever

Sleeping under treated mosquito nets to prevent mosquito bites while sleeping

Closing windows early enough where mosquitoes can pass.

The vaccines are meant to be taken before 28 years of conception
