Bwindi is located in south western Uganda in the districts of Kabale , kisoro and Kanungu.
The major tourist attraction are the mountain gorillas.
Beindi has about 459 indivi of these most endangered primates this was established as a national park in 1991 to protect them.
Because of these mountain gorillas Bwindi is the major destination in the world for gorilla trekking and the major foreign Warner for Uganda.
Bwindi also has other wildlife species besides mountain gorilla which are 120 species of mammals , 350 species of birds , 27 frog species , more than 1000 flowering plants , over 200 tree species and about 100 species of ferns.
Bwindi national park covers an area of about 331 sq kilometres.
Bwindi experiences tropical climate since its a tropical rainforest with annual rainfall ranges from 1400mm to 1900mm and temperature ranges from 7 to 15°C minimumly and 20 to 27° C maximumly.
Bwindi national park has 20 gorilla families ava3 for trekking by tourists in the four sectors of Buhoma , Ruhija , Rushaga , and Nkuringo .
The gorilla families include ; Munare gorilla family , Bitukura gorilla family , Bweza gorilla family , Busingye gorilla family , Mishaya gorilla family , Nkuringo gorilla family among others.

How to get to Bwindi
Tourits can use a car to travel from Ente to Kampala for about 8 to 9 hours to reach Bwindi.
Tourists from Queen Elizabeth National Park can use a car to travel for about 3 to 4 hours to Bwindi.
Air transport is also another major type of trans tourits can use from Entebbe or kajjansi air field to kihihi or kisoro air strip them a 1 hour drive to the park premises.

Best time to visit
Tourits can access Bwindi all the year around but the best season is the dry season in the months of June to September and from December to February.

Gorilla trekking costs about USD 700 per person per single trek and only 8 people are allowed to trek a particular gorilla group for 1 hour
Gorila habituation costs USD 1500 per person and the tourists are given About 4 hours with the gorillas.
