We will arrive in the late afternoon or evening, allowing you time to relax, have dinner, and rest overnight in preparation for the next day’s mountain gorilla tracking experience.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking and Ibyi’wacu Cultural Village

We will start the day with a hearty breakfast at your accommodation, then head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a short briefing about the dos and don’ts of gorilla tracking.

Afterward, we will begin our trek into the jungles of Volcanoes National Park in search of mountain gorillas.

This activity may take between 2 to 8 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements, with a full hour spent in their presence.

You will have the chance to take breathtaking photos, observe their behavior, and enjoy the moment.

After the trek, we will return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch before visiting Ibyi’wacu Cultural Village in the afternoon.

We will then return to the lodge for dinner, relaxation, and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking and Twin Lakes Visit

On this day, we will get up close to Rwanda’s golden monkeys and visit the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera.

After an early breakfast, we will head to the park headquarters in Kinigi and then make our way into the jungle for golden monkey tracking.

This activity can last up to 4 hours, including a full hour spent observing the monkeys.

Afterward, we will return to the lodge for lunch and, in the afternoon, visit the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera, where we will see local community projects.

Day 4: Dian Fossey Tomb Hike and Transfer to Gisenyi – Lake Kivu

Early in the morning, we will set out for the Dian Fossey Hike, visiting the tomb and the remains of the Karisoke Research Center, where Fossey conducted her work.

Dian Fossey was an American zoologist who dedicated her life to researching and conserving mountain gorillas in the Volcanoes until her sudden demise.

After this historic visit, we will return to the lodge for lunch and then transfer to Gisenyi – Lake Kivu, with stops at the Murambi Genocide Memorial Site and the King’s Palace.

The boat ride offers a relaxing atmosphere and the opportunity to visit Nyamurundi Island, an island known for its coffee plantations.

Here, you will learn about coffee cultivation and the coffee-making process, and you will see some of the world’s best Arabica coffee beans.

Afterward, we will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
