4-Day Rwanda Adventure: Gorillas & Golden Monkey Trekking Tour

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Upon your arrival, you will receive a complimentary airport transfer from one of our professional tour guides if you are arriving by plane.

Alternatively, you will be picked up from any hotel around Kigali and transferred to Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri in a 4×4 safari vehicle.

As you transfer, your guide will provide insightful commentary on the various historical facts about Kigali.

The short tour will include visits to several cultural markets, the Genocide Memorial Monument, and other points of interest around Kigali.

As you may know, Rwanda’s history includes very tragic and terrifying moments, which you will witness during your visit to the Genocide Memorial Monument.

Our experienced guides, who possess a wealth of knowledge, will narrate the history at this site, accompanied by local site guides.

After our brief tour of Kigali, we will proceed to Volcanoes National Park for an overnight stay, preparing for the mountain gorilla tracking experience the following day.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Twin Lakes Visit

This is the day we reunite with our long-lost cousins in the mist. After an early breakfast, we will head to the park headquarters for a short briefing session before making our way into the jungles of Volcanoes National Park.

This exciting trek through the beautiful foothills of the Virunga Conservation Area offers stunning and inspiring views in all directions.

We will search for the mountain gorillas until we locate them, spending up to an hour in close contact (7 meters away) with these incredible primates.

During this time, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with them, take photographs, and learn more about their behavior.

Afterward, we will return to the lodge for relaxation and, in the evening, visit Rwanda’s twin lakes, Ruhondo and Burera, where you can bond with the local culture and traditions.

After this magical experience, we will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Dian Fossey Trekking / Golden Monkey Tracking

On this day, you can choose between Dian Fossey Trekking or Golden Monkey Tracking, depending on your preference.

After an early breakfast, we will return to the park headquarters for a short briefing, which will last no more than 30 minutes, before embarking on your chosen activity.

If you choose Dian Fossey Trekking, you will head to Karisoke Research Center for a challenging hike lasting up to 7 hours.

Alternatively, Golden Monkey Tracking in the misty jungles of Volcanoes National Park should last for up to 4 hours.

Afterward, we will return to the lodge for a lunch break, relaxation, and perhaps an evening of leisure.

If you choose Golden Monkey Tracking, you will return early enough to transfer to Gisenyi, where you can catch a glimpse of Lake Kivu and enjoy dinner by the lakeshore.

We will then return to our accommodation for an overnight stay, preparing for more exciting activities the following day.

Day 4: Kigali City Excursion and Departure

After breakfast, we will embark on a journey back to Kigali for an extended city tour, which will include visits to Caplaki Market, a pottery project, the Franco-Rwandan Cultural Center, handicraft shops, and the Genocide Memorial Monument.

We will have lunch at the legendary Hotel Rwanda and then transfer to Kigali International Airport for your onward flight.

End of 4-Day Rwanda Gorilla Tour.
