Detailed 4-Day 2 Rwanda Gorilla Treks Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Shortly after breakfast on the first day of your 4-Day Volcanoes Double Gorilla Trekking Safari, you will embark on an adventurous journey to Rwanda’s home of mountain gorillas—Volcanoes National Park.
You will travel in a 4×4 safari vehicle driven by our safari guide through Rwanda’s “land of a thousand hills,” with short visits to sites such as the Genocide Memorial Monument, which holds memories of Rwanda’s past violence.
Upon reaching our accommodation in Volcanoes National Park, we will drop off our belongings and go for a short community walk to see the creativity and work in various community projects.
Afterward, we will return to the lodge and prepare for the next day’s mountain gorilla trekking experience.
Day 2: First Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda
On this day of your 4-Day Volcanoes Double Gorilla Trekking Safari, we will embark on our first gorilla trek in the mist.
We will start the day with a hearty breakfast, as the trek can be physically challenging.
Afterward, we will attend a 30-minute pre-trek briefing to learn the guidelines, safety tips, and precautions for tracking gorillas.
After this meeting, we will be grouped and head into the jungle to visit Rwanda’s mountain gorillas.
Once we locate the gorillas, we will spend a maximum of one hour observing them in their natural habitat.
After this amazing experience, we will return to the park offices in Kinigi to receive our gorilla trekking certificates, which will specify the gorilla family we tracked.
We will then return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Second Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda
The second gorilla trek of your 4-Day Volcanoes Double Gorilla Trekking Safari offers you the chance to experience anything you may have missed during the first trek.
After another hearty breakfast, we will return to the park headquarters for a briefing similar to the previous day’s, although some information may differ based on the gorilla family you will be trekking.
We will then venture into the wilderness for our second encounter with a different family of mountain gorillas.
If you felt you didn’t take enough photos or your camera malfunctioned during the first trek, this is your chance to capture everything.
Take as many photos and videos as you like, but remember to turn off your flash, as it can disturb and frighten the gorillas.
After the trek, we will return to the starting point and head to the park headquarters for another gorilla tracking certificate.
We will then return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Volcanoes National Park – Kigali / Departure
After breakfast on the last day of your Rwanda travel holiday, we will drive back to Kigali for a more extensive city excursion, including visits to craft shops for souvenirs, the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Monument, and Hotel Rwanda.
You will also have time for last-minute shopping before we proceed to the airport for your return flight.
