Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to the critically endangered mountain gorillas.

The park is located in southwestern Uganda in the districts of Kabale, Kisoro, and Kanungu.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of the oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests in Africa.

The park was established in 1991 by the government of Uganda and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.

The park is managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, the body in charge of national parks in Uganda.

Apart from mountain gorillas, the park is home to other mammals such as elephants, forest hogs, and chimpanzees, as well as over 350 bird species, including Grauer’s broadbill, regal sunbird, Kivu ground thrush, Shelley’s crimsonwing, blue-headed sunbird, and African green broadbill.
